  Notes	Franklin Gazette, Malone, Friday, 20 Jun 1884 There was quite a serious accident happened last Sunday afternoon to the wife and mother of Ralph Bassett who lives about three miles north of the village. While Mr. Bassett was getting his family ready for attendance at the union services on the Arsenal Green, and after he had helped his wife a mother into the wagon, he found that his harnesses were not properly adjusted and before he could adjust the same, the horses took fright and ran a short distance, striking a post and throwing the occupants of the wagon to the ground. Each of the ladies had their leg broken below the knee. Dr. Skinner was called who reduced the fractures, and reports his patients as doing well.
