HUTCHDINS – In Malone, Feb. 18th, of pneumonia, Mrs. James P.
Hutchins, aged 56 years.
Mrs. Hutchins was a Christian woman of beautiful character, greatly
devoted to her home and family and deeply interested in everything which
concerned the welfare of the community in which she had all her life resided.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Bassett, her maiden name being
Mina Bassett, and she was born in the Bassett district in the northeastern
part of Malone. She married James P. Hutchins, a resident of same district,
and she had always resided in Malone and Constable. Until her last illness,
which was of less than week’s duration, she had enjoyed excellent health, and
her sudden taking out of life is a great shock to her family and friends. Mrs.
Hutchins was a loyal member of the Presbyterian church in Constable and active
in all its undertakings. The whole community deeply mourns her loss and the
sympathy of all is extended to the surviving relatives to whom her association
and love were so precious. Mrs. Hutchins is survived by her husband, two
daughters and one son, Mrs. A.E. Carpenter, of Constable; Mrs. Thomas Dewey,
of Malone, and Lawrence L. Hutchins, who resides at home. One sister, Mrs. Eva
Gibson, of Malone, also survives. The funeral was held from the late home of
deceased near the Constable line Tuesday forenoon, Rev. Mr. James, of
Constable, officiating; interment in Constable.
