Catherine Bassett Died Christmas
Catherine Bassett, widow of the late Sylvanus Bassett, passed away at
the home of her son, Will A. Bassett, Christmas night, aged 85 years. She had
been in poor health for a long time.
The deceased was born in the town of Constable but spent the greater
part of her life in Malone. She was a member of the Baptist church and was
held in high esteem by her multitude of friends.
Besides her only son, Will Bassett, with whom she resided, she leaves
one half-sister, Mrs. John Tobey, of Brooklyn.
Funeral services were held this morning at 10:30 o’clock at the
Bassett home, with Rev. Derwood L. Smith officiating. Burial in the cemetery
in the Radley district.
