Mrs. J.C. Bassett
Mrs. Harriet J. Bassett, wife of J.C. Bassett, died very suddenly at 9:30 o?clock last night at the family home at 421 South Kline street. Her husband and their daughter, Mrs. E.B. Wilkinson, of Chicago, were with her at the time. Embolism of the blood about the brain and heart center was the cause of death.
Harriet J. Galbraith was born in Minneapolis on December 12, 1864. She was married to J.C. Bassett in Minneapolis on January 29, 1892, and from there they moved to Langford, S.D., where they resided until 1900, when they removed to Aberdeen at the time Mr. Bassett became connected with the Aberdeen National bank, of which he is president.
During her residence in Aberdeen, Mrs. Bassett had taken a leading part in many activities, having been a prominent and active member of the Presbyterian church, and of the Wednesday Reading club and had formed a host of warm friends to whom her unexpected demise came as a most severe shock.
Besides her husband, four children survive the wife and mother. They are Ruth L., (now Mrs. Wilkinson), Helen W. Bassett, Marjorie G. Basset, and Clark D. Bassett.
The funeral services will probably be held on Friday, October 15, but the date has not been definitely set, pending the arrival of Mrs. Frederick E. Bassett from New York City.
