Albert S. Bassett
Albert S. Bassett was born in Madison County, New York, on January 21, 1827, and died at his home in the town of Milton on Jan. 14, 1904. If he had lived one week longer he would have been 77 years of age. He came to Wisconsin in 1848 and settled near Fort Atkinson and has been a resident of this part of the state ever since. On March 18, 1875, he was married to Miss Nelia Rose. To them two children were born, a daughter and a son, the daughter dying when two years of age. Surviving Mr. Bassett there remains the bereaved widow and a sorrowing son. Albert Bassett was the oldest member of his family living when he died. He left two brothers and four sisters. The brothers are Truman of the town of Milton and Newell of South Dakota, and the sisters Mrs. Harriett Stevenson and Mrs. Eliza Wentworth both of Fort Atkinson, and Mrs. Emma Stone and Mrs. Diadama Lyons both of the town of Milton.
Funeral services were held Saturday from his late home, conducted by Rev. C. M. Starkweather who chose as his text Hebrews 4: 9, There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
