    • Chauncy served in the Pennsylvania Volunteers, mustered at Towanda, Pennsylvania. His pension papers show he made his home in New York after his three years in the service. He served as a Sergeant in Co. G, 50th Pennsylvania Infantry, under Capt. Talford. His certificate of discharge show that he was 22 years of age, five-foot six inches tall with a florid complexion, grey eyes and auburn hair.
      His occupation was listed as a "machinist". His first muster roll was dated 8 Nov 1861. He was discharged on 7 Feb 1863 from Convalescent Camp, Virginia. He had been ill and unfit for duty for 61 days due to "valvular disease of heart: contracted in service". He applied for a pension as an invalid on 16 Jul 1890.
      His widow applied for a pension on 20 Jul 1923.
