Worcester, March 31 - Charles Warren Bassett, aged 73 years, who
established the electrical wire department of the old Washburn & Moen Co. a
quarter of a century ago, died today from heart disease at his ho
William street. Mr. Bassett had been retired since a year ago last January
when failing health compelled him to give up active business lif
Since organizing the electrical wire department of the Washburn & Moen
Co. he had been at the head of that department, continuing after the old
concern was absorbed by the American Steel & Wire Co. Previous to that he was
in business in Boston.
He was a native of East Braintree and was the son of Caleb T. a
Sarah T. (Allen) Bassett.
Mr. Bassett leaves his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Bassett, and two
daughters, Dr. Alice H. Bassett and Miss Sarah W. Bassett, both of Boston.
