Capt. Jacob P.H. Bassett

HYANNIS, July 21 ? Funeral services for Capt. Jacob P. H. Bassett, one of the last of the old-time coasting masters, will be held at his home on Pearl street tomorrow at 2 P.M. He died at his home Saturday morning.
He was a life member of the Boston Marine Society and was for 23 years collector of taxes for the town of Barnstable. He was born in Hyannis, a son of Capt. Gerry Bassett, a master mariner. He was one of the oldest members of Fraternal lodge, A.F.A.M. and a member of the First Baptist church. Surviving him are his widow, who was Miss Sallie Crowell; a son, J. P. H. Bassett, Jr., of Augusta, Me.; two daughters, Mrs. Chester H. Whelden of Watertown and Miss Cleone Bassett of Hyannis; a sister, Mrs. Bertie B. H. Fall of Hyannis, and two grandchildren.
