  Notes	Hartwell Bassett, son of Joseph and Frances Melvina (Stone) Bassett, was born 24 Nov 1859 on his father's farm on the Kennebec River in Moscow, Maine, overlooking Bingham Village. He died 5 Apr 1941 at Swedish Hospit Minneapolis, Minnesota. Hartwell was a farmer, merchant, and cattle buyer, first in Chickasaw and Bremer counties, Iowa, then in South Dakota, living in or near Gary for 14 years, where he bought and sold cattle, and ran an implement business. In 1914 he and his family moved to Fulda, Minnesota, to enable his two sons to attend the University of Minnesota and Hameline University.
