  Notes	The Chicago Tribune, Thursday, January 26, 1899 Obituary Mrs. Amelia Bassett Keyes, Moline, Ill., died on Jan. 24, aged 79 years. Apoplexy was the cause of death. She was the widow of the Rev. S.P. Keyes, who was presiding elder of the Chicago district of the Rock River conference in the early ?50s. She was born in New York State, taught school in Ogle County, Ill., in 1838, and was married in Chicago in 1846. Her husband was then pastor of the First Methodist Church at Clark and Washington streets. They lived for more than thirty years in Aurora, Ill. Since Mr. Keyes death in 1888 Mrs. Keyes had resided with her daughter, Mrs. W.H. Hillhouse, in Moline. She was one of the founders of the W.C.T.U. and an intimate friends of Frances E. Willard. She was a second cousin of President Adams.
