Killed By Lightning
Nymphus Bassett, a farmer aged about 55 years, was struck by lightning and instantly killed this afternoon, shortly after 1 o?clock. A storm came up and he was hastening to the house. When near the barn he opened the way through a rail fence for himself and horse. The animal went directly to the barn, where it was observed by the family, who, after waiting a short time for the old gentleman to appear, became alarmed and started in search of him. His body was discovered near the gap he had made in the fence, but life was extinct. Coroner Capp was at once notified and left immediately for Bassett?s residence. He had not returned when we went to press this afternoon.

Saturday afternoon Mr. Nymphus Bassett, an elderly farmer residing five miles north of Shelbyville, Ind., was struck by lightning and instantly killed. he had been plowing near his house, and noticing the coming of a sudden thunder-storm, unhitched to return home. While letting down the fence gap near his barn the fatal bolt descended, and he was left dead, while his horse walked leisurely to the stable. Shortly afterward his body was discovered by his family.
