When The Rocky Mount News Published Twenty Years Ago Today
The funeral of Otis Pray Bassett was held from Walley & Rollins undertaking parlors at 10 o?clock yesterday morning.
A large number of pioneers attended the services, the Rev. Charles H. Marshall of St. Barnabas Episcopal church delivered an eloquent eulogy and there were many floral offerings. Many members of the Colorado Pioneers? society and the Ladies? Aid society of that organization were in attendance, Mr. Bassett and his wife having been members. The pallbearers were J.L. Brush, Benjamin H. Eaton, T.H. Johnson, Frederick Shaw and Henry M. Hitchcock. The body was interred at Fairmount.
