Darius Lovejoy will celebrate his 91st birthday next Tuesday at his home east of
this village in what is known as the Lovejoy Settlement where he was born,
April 25, 1825, and has passed all his life. He is active and well preserved
mentally and physically and gives promise of reaching the century mark. His
wife died many years ago. They had one son who died in early life. Dari
Lovejoy was the son of Daniel Lovejoy, and Sophia Bassett Lovejoy, both of
whom died before reaching the age 70 years. They had two children both of whom
are now living, Darius, of Rose, and John, of Huron. Daniel Lovejoy was the
son of Palmer Lovejoy who was born in Sheffield, Mass. and there lived until
the beginning of the 19th century, when he came to this section as one of the
pioneer settlers, and it was from him that all the Lovejoys in this section
are descendants.

Darius Lovejoy
North Rose – The funeral of Darius Lovejoy was held from his home at
2:30 last Wednesday. His death occurred Monday of general debility, aged 93.
He was born April 25, 1825, east of this village in what is known as the
Lovejoy settlement and passed all his life there.
Darius Lovejoy was the eldest son of Daniel Lovejoy and Sophia Bassett
Lovejoy, both of whom died before reaching the century mark. They had five
children. Darius Lovejoy was a grandson of Palmer L. Lovejoy, who was born in
Sheffield, Mass., and there lived until the beginning of the 19th century when
he came to this section as one of the pioneer settlers. He leaves one brother,
John Lovejoy, of Huron, besides several nieces and nephews.
