Obituary, Deborah Ann Reed
Deborah Ann Reed, daughter of John and Sarah Hagerman, was born in Fairfield, Lenawee county, Michigan, Feb. 14, 1841, and departed this life in Adrian, Mich., Sept. 1, 1922.
On September 27, 1850, she was united in marriage to Ebenezer Bassett of Madison, who was called to his reward March 13, 1891. To this union was born one child, Mrs. Orilla M. Niles of Adrian.
In 1895 she was married to L.F. Reed, and, since his death, in 1910, had made her home with her daughter, with the exception of eight months spent in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beasley of this city.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Orilla M. Niles; three grandchildren, Harold C. Foote and Miss Evelyn D. Foote and Adrian, and Mrs. Arthur Judson Freed of Huntington, Indiana; one great-grandchild, Lythe Seth Freed; also of Huntington, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Tennah Merwin of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; also the following step-children; Mrs. Lucy E. Baker and C. J. Bassett of Spring Arbor, Mich., Albert N. Bassett of Cleveland, Ohio; Edgar E. Bassett of Adrian; Clarence Reed of Sacramento, California; and Mrs. Bessie Reed Adams of Buffalo, N.Y. She also leaves several step-grandchildren.
Several years ago Mrs. Reed was converted and united with the Free Methodist church and remained a member until death.
Although practically helpless for more than seven years, yet she bore her affliction with Christian fortitude and died in the triumphs of a living faith.
Funeral services were conducted at the home of Mrs. O.M. Niles, 621 Broad street, and at the Free Methodist church in Adrian Sept. 4, the Rev. W.C. Muffitt officiating. The burial was made in Crane cemetery.
