  Notes	Jane died at the home of her son, Owen Abbott Bassett. Obituary Jane Augusta Bradford Bassett Died in Lawrence, Kansas. Mrs. J.A. Bassett in the 74th year of her age. A brief account of her life may be of some interest to her friends. She was born in Bristol, R.I. in 1803. Her father, Judge Daniel Bradford was a lineal descendant of Gov. Bradford, Gov. of the Plymouth Colony. Her earlier years were spent in the place of her nativity. Later the family removed to Pa. where she was married to S.K. Bassett and resided for a while in Smithfield, Bradford Co., Pa. They came west at an early day and were settled in Io remaining there until 1858 when Galesburg, Ill. was chosen for a home chiefly on account of its excellent educational advantages. There twenty years of her long and busy life were spent. The death of her husband in 1878 caused her to leave Galesburg since which time she resided in Lawrence, Kansas with h eldest son, O.A. Bassett. Being possessed of strong mental powers and fine perceptive facilities united with an unswerving integrity, she seemed eminently fitted to meet the trials of pioneer life, and the duties devolving upon her as wife and Mother. Generosity and unselfishness were among the prominent characteristics of her nature. To relieve the needy and minister to the wants of those around her seemed an elementary part of her being. And now that she has exchanged the pilgrims' cross for the Angel's crown surviving friends may feel that their great loss is her eternal gain and bestow their tribute of grateful affection to the memory of the faithful brother.
