- Samuel was 70 years and nine days of age when he died.
Samuel and Elsie were living in Lordstown Township, Trumbull County, Ohio in 1830.
They were listed as original members of The Disciple Church, Lordstown Center, Trumbull County, Ohio in 1830.
There appears on 4 May 1827 a land transaction between Samuel Bassett and his wife Elsa to Ezra Richard? in Solon, Cortland County, New York. Before Samuel and Elsie moved to Bath Township, Allen County, Ohio, they bought a plot of land in section 13 there in 1834 which was an original grant from the State of Ohio. This land is southeast of the junction of what is now Bluelick and Thayer Roads. In May of 1841, they mortgaged 40 acres of the farm to Thomas Kenedy for $60. They defaulted on their mortgage in October 1841 and lost the property. The land was later repurchased in 1849. After the death of Samuel, Lewis bought out his sisters' interests in the property. He also paid $107 for the 40 acres immediately north of the previously mentioned property in an original land grant from the State of Ohio in 1848.
