Alfred NY Sun, August 28, 1901
At the home of Elisha P. Stillman, Monday, August 26, occurred the second annual reunion of the Potter family. This particular branch of this numerous family consisted of the descendants of the three brothers, Elisha, Edward and Perry, who at an early period settled in the town of Hartsville. The company was favored with an ideal day. Before the noon hour the lawn was filled with old and young to the number of nearly one hundred. The recounting of days of long ago by the seniors, story telling and general sociability by those of middle age interspersed by the laughter and prattle of the children was the order of the hour until the command to ?be seated? came, when all did justice to a dinner fit for a king. Brief literary exercises were then indulged in consisting of a short history of the family by the president of the day, E.P. Stillman, and recitations by some of the younger members of the company. Alanson C. Potter of West Edmeston addressed the family making many appropriate and touching remarks. His only sister, Mrs. D.P. Stillman, was the oldest one present, being in her 87th year. It was voted to hold the next reunion at the home of Asher Stillman, Aug. 26, 1902. After the merry gathering had been ?taken? several times by the camera ?fiends? they took their leave hoping that they might meet at the next reunion an unbroken number.
