  Notes	From Vol. 1, page 1003 of Hemenway's Vermont Historical Gazetteer, Essex County. "Lucy Cutler married Deacon Joel Bassett and after removed to Granby where they resided for a considerable number of years and finally emigrated to West New York. They had several children who are supposed to be residing in that vicinity." "History of the Torrence Family" says that Joel Bassett was a member of the Legislature of Vermont and often entertained the great men of the state in his large house, which stood on a hill overlooking the one thousand one hundred acres of land which he owned on the Connecticut Rive Joel, Erastus L. Bassett and his wife Sarah E. (Graham) Bassett, are all buried in the Inland Cemetery in Inland Township, Cedar County, Iowa. It is located about 4 1/2 miles northeast of Bennett, Iowa.
