  Notes	He removed from Sandwich to East Yarmouth, which was incorporated in 1793 as Dennis. He held commissions as captain in the royal militia, 1765 and 1772, but early in the controversy he sided with the colonies and surrendered his commission. General Washington offered him a captain's commission early in the Revolution but on account of his age and other circumstances he declined it. Elisha and Ruhamah are buried in the burying ground near the center of Dennis, with gray slate gravestones, reading: In memory of In memory of Captain Elisha Bassett Ruhamah Bassett who died Feb. 12, 1793 widow of Captain Elisha Bassett AET 78 who died Ju A.D. 17 aged 91 years.
