EMERY NELSON, 84 DIES ON SATURDAY
Emery A. Nelson, 84, a resident of Champaign county for the past 82 years, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday in Carle Hospital, following a major operation.
Mr. Nelson had been living with his son, Raymond Nelson, 309 West Vine Street. A carpenter, he had lived in Champaign for the past 51 years, and had been working in Robeson's department store for the last 20 years.
He was born Dec. 3, 1856 in Anderson, Ind., the son of William and Sarah Nelson. He came to Illinois with his parents when he was two years old, where they settled at Nelson's Chapel just west of Pesotum. He lived in this county the rest of his life.
The body was taken to Owen's funeral home, where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday with Reverend Stephen E. Fisher, a pastor of University Place Christian church in charge. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his son, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Reptogle, Cerro Gordo, a sister, Mrs. Hulda Woods, Decatur, and give grandchildren.
