The twentiseventh Day of July in the Twenty fifth year of his Majesty's
Reign - George - the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and
Ireland King Defender of the Faith Anno Domini - One Thousand Seven Hundred
and fifty one, I Samuel Bassit of East Greenwhich in the County of Kent in the
Colony of Rhode Island, yeoman, being noe in good health and of a perfect and
sound displaying mind and memory Thanks be to allmighty God; and Therefore,
calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing its appointed for all
man, ones to Die, Do make and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament.
Impremis, I Bequeath my Soul to God that Gave it to be Disposed of according
to his Blessed Will and as for my Body I commit, it to the earth to be buried
in a Christian Like and decent Marns? at the discretion of my Executor herein
after named...
And as for Such Wordly Estate as it hath Pleased God to Bless me with
in this world I Give devise and dispose of it as follows...
Viz: it is my Will and I do order that in the first place all my Just
Debts and funeral expences be fully Satisfied and paid, Item, I Give and
Bequeath to my Son, Samuel Bassit, all my Tools of any kind whatsoever, and
Twenty Shilling, Ten Bills of Credit. Item, I give and Bequeath to my four
daughters Namely--- Elizabeth Vaughan, Hannah Biddlecome, Sarah Bassit and
Dorkis Bassit, each of them Ten Shillings in Bills of Credit to be paid by my
executor. Item, I bequeath to my said daughter Dorkis my worstead combs
together with all my hand held goods to be..... by my executor. Item it is my
Will and I do order that my Executor Shall Sell my Dwelling house and my Lall?
of Land whereon my Said house stands in East Greenwhich aforesaid, and out of
the mony arrising thereon and the remaining part of the mony arrising by the
sale of my house and Land; aforesaid, I give and bequeath it all to my ????
Daughter Mary Bassit; to be paid to her by my Executor... and I do Make ordain
and appoint my son Samuel Bassit my Executor to Execute this my Last Will and
Testament. In Witness where of I have hereunto Set my Hand and Seal This Dan

Estate of Samuel Bassett
Whereas Samuel Bassitt his residing in Coventry in the County of Kent,
Unslandman is appointed where and Solon? executes of the Last Will and
Testament of his Honored Father - Samuel Bassitt- Late of East Greenwich in
this County abovesaid Deceased. Therefore Know all men by those present that
we the Town Council of East Greenwich aforesaid, viz: William Spensor, Joshua
Coggeshall, James Wightman, Benjamin Sweet, John Spenser (Son of WM) and
Silvester Sweet the Present Town Council for Said East Greenwich for this time
being do hereby give unto the said executor, full ??? and authority to make
into his xxx and custody all the usable estate that did of right belong to his
said testator at the time of his death and faithfully to administor on said
estate according to Law; and the ??? Intent and meaning of the Last Will and
Testament of the aforesaid Testator and Lastly we do Hereby order the Clerke
of our Council to Seal This - Presents with the office Seal of said Council;
and Sign the same; Sealed with Said Seal and Signed this Twenty Ninth Day of
March and in his Thirty third year of the Reign of our Sovererin, George the
Second, King of Great Britain in so forth Anno Domini 1760.
