After living a life full of love, service, kindness, faith, and joy, Amber was called home on July 1, 2026. We find comfort in knowing Amber was welcomed into heaven by her grandparents, James E. Bunch and Willie Mae Bass and Norman and Pearl Anders. Amber leaves behind her husband, John Buda, her daughters, Danica Williams and Alivia Buda, her parents, Derwin and Esther Bass, her sisters, Shelley (Jacob) Grantham, and Dana (Brad) Thompson, several nieces and nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. As a child, Amber made friends everywhere she went, loved to dance, walk on her hands, swim, and enjoy the sunshine. As the oldest daughter, she had her dad wrapped around her finger and her mom's heart. She was the best big sister to Shelley and Dana and their best friend and showed them genuine love each day. Amber graduated from Suwannee High School in 2000 where she enjoyed cheerleading and was loved by all who knew her. She was dedicated and hardworking. While earning her AA degree , she worked at a daycare where she made an impact on so many children. She started her career at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in 2003 as a receptionist. There she fell in love with the people and became a Certified Criminal Intelligence Analyst. In her twenty-three year career, s??he loved helping solve cases and found joy in her work and work family. A year and a half ago Amber decided to pursue her passion in real estate and truly blossomed into an amazing realtor at Grantham Realty. She was known for her dedication, great communication and genuine love for her customers. Her most cherished accomplishment has been raising two beautiful, strong, and caring daughters with John. Danica and Alivia were the center of her world and she was a wonderful mother- always putting them and everyone else before herself. She was their biggest cheerleader and their best friend. Her legacy will live on through her daughters. Amber was a supportive, loving, and loyal wife. Some of her favorite times were the time spent with John, the girls, family, and friends. She loved to travel, especially to anywhere with water. She loved the river, the beach, the lake, and the pool- anywhere she could soak up the sun and beautiful skies. She also enjoyed watching a good mystery, playing cards with family, gardening, working on projects with John, soaking in her tub and watching a beautiful sunset. There are not enough words to describe Amber, but here are a few shared by her friends and family: selfless, loyal, humble, kind, strong, determined, gracious, and beautiful inside and out. Amber made such a positive impact on everyone she met and will be truly missed. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Amber would want those left behind not to remain in sorrow, but to treasure every day. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we hold on to the promise of seeing her again. | 1611 | Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. Bennie Ray Bass August 30, 1942 - February 28, 2015 Bennie Ray Bass was born August 30, 1942 on a hot summer day which suited him well since he loved the summer time and hot weather. He spent his early childhood in Robeson County with his older brother Bernard and parents, Brady and Esther Bass. While their parents farmed, the young Bennie Ray and Bernard stayed with their Grandma Lee and Aunt Macy. They entertained themselves in their grandma's garden and in ditches and by stuffing their overalls with sand. The family moved to Bladen County and started farming in Abbottsburg where Bennie Ray helped his parents and lived from that point forward. He acquired the love of reading early and sometimes found himself in a bit of trouble at school for reading instead of doing the lesson at hand. As a young boy his fascination with flying and airplanes lead him to collect books and brochures on the subject. He graduated from Bladenboro High School in 1960 and attended St. Andrews Presbyterian College before returning home to help with the farm. As a teenager, he met a very quiet and pretty girl at church and they later dated. Bennie Ray married Elizabeth Lorraine Hood on January 12, 1964. He was so happy, he did a cartwheel on the church's front lawn after the ceremony. Bennie Ray and Lorraine tended their own farm as well as helped their parents with theirs. Soon they added three daughters to their own family Bernetta Lynn, Karen Elizabeth and Marcia Leigh. When Bennie Ray wasn't farming or working at the paper mill, he was having fun with his girls. They played lots of board games, played outside every weekend, worked on projects together and just hung out. He loved waterskiing at White Lake during his twenties and thirties, then his interest moved on to golf. In his late forties, he fulfilled his childhood dream of flying. He became a small plane pilot and enjoyed many years of flying directly from his backyard runway to destinations beyond. Bennie Ray loved to travel. He particularly enjoyed the beaches of North and South Carolina and the mountains. He was fortunate to see some beautiful places like Yosemite National Park, The Grand Tetons, the tidal bore at the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, Canada; Yellowstone National Park and the islands of Jamaica and St. Lucia. He spent time at Kerr Lake with his brother Bernard and sister-in-law, Marci; and took trips with Lorraine's family, Bruce and Esther Hood and Edith and Bill Burney. Bennie Ray loved people and considered everyone a friend. Strangers were only friends he had yet to meet. He had lots of fun flying with his sons-in-law, Bryan Singletary and Eddie Rouse and working on projects with son-in-law, Michael Sweeney. He enjoyed catching up with his nieces and nephews; Alana, Ashlin, Christy, Marlena, Phyllis and Willis and their families, when he had the opportunity. He loved the family of God at First Baptist Church in Bladenboro where he was a member for the past 20 years. When he could, he helped the Brotherhood complete mission projects. He was also a member of the Sunshine Club, the Adult Men's Sunday School Class, The Bus Committee and the Building and Maintenance Committee. In his later working years, he was elected to the Board of Directors at the Riegelwood Federal Credit Union and got to meet many people. He also enjoyed his membership in the Experimental Aircraft Association-1118 of Bladenboro. He loved milkshakes, ice cream, clam chowder, fried chicken, banana pudding and steak. He enjoyed being outside when it was sunny and warm. His smile and laugh brightened the gloomiest of days. Friends have used the following words to describe him: genuine, laughter, splendid, sharp, loving, smiling, generous beyond measure, beloved, courageous, honest, dependable, humble, selfless and a friend. His charm was evident by the repeated visits from numerous nurses, RT staff and doctors even after they had moved on to other rotations or assignments. He had a particular fondness for family physician, Dr. Gerald Devine in Lumberton and his nephrologist, Dr. Karin True and Transplant Coordinator, Jessica Hawn at the Kidney Transplant Center in Chapel Hill. He was given renewed energy and health through the selfless gift of a kidney from his good friend, Esther Hood. He considered Jerry Gore, Kenneth Kelly and Lane Lee close friends and enjoyed their time together. Some of his favorite times were spent with his grandchildren. He and Jon spent time around the farm. He enjoyed watching Jon play baseball and church basketball. He rooted for Morgan at volleyball, basketball and softball games. He cheered for Peyton at volleyball games, softball games and school academic events. Kelsie had his support at soccer, softball, volleyball and her first band concert. He never tired of pushing Elizabeth on her swing, playing dodge ball, talking on the tin can telephone and reading with her. When he reached Heaven on February 28, 2015 his granddaughter, Kaitlyn ran into his arms and he gave her a big hug and spun her around. He was also welcomed by his parents, his favorite Aunts Macy and Amelita and many other friends and relatives. The thing he loved most was living life, and he did that well. There will be a Celebration of Life party on Sunday, March 8 at 4 p.m., New Light Family Life Center, 307 Chestnut St., Bladenboro. Food will be served. If you would like to honor Bennie Ray, you may contribute to the UNC Kidney Center, 7024 Burnett-Womack CB # 7155, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7155 or Bladenboro First Baptist Church, PO Box 176, Bladenboro, NC 28320. | Bass, Bennie Ray (I6105)

| 1620 | Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery Sadie Elnora (Nogie) Storie Bass January 15, 1931 ? April 8, 2026 Sadie Elnora (Nogie) Storie Bass, 95, passed peacefully on April 8, 2026 into the arms of her Lord and Savior. Born January 15, 1931, in Houston, Texas, to parents William Theodore and Sadie Elnora Storie, she carried her family?s love and strength with her throughout a long, remarkable life. After the family moved to Pasadena, Texas, she built a life that was as adventurous as it was beautiful one defined by devotion, creativity, and the kind of spirited joy that leaves a lasting glow. Nogie met the love of her life Edward Emory Bass and together they shared 69 years of marriage, raising three children and creating a home filled with love, purpose and possibility. In 1956, she and Edward started Bass and Meineke Auto Parts, and also were the owners of Kirby Marina dating back to the 1980?s. Their life together was richly lived: they loved deep sea fishing and hunting and traveled to many places throughout their life. She and Edward shared many fond memories with family and friends at their lake house arrowhead hunting and fishing, always choosing curiosity, water, and wide horizons whenever they could. A talented, artistic soul, Nogie expressed herself through painting and metal sculpting, and she brought music into the world by playing the banjo, performing in the Jubilee & Bayou Banjo bands in Houston. She had a way of turning everyday moments into something memorable, leaving behind not only treasured works of art and song, but also the steady reminder that life is meant to be enjoyed, explored, and celebrated. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Theodore and Sadie Elnora Storie; her beloved husband, Edward Bass; son, Lonnie Bass; granddaughter, April Bass; brother, Ted Storie, Jr.; and her sister, Juanita Dorflinger. She is survived by her son, Cary and his wife, Fran; daughter, Dede Wright; grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua, Ariel, Colton, Londa, Summer and Jessica; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty Strawther, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Her family was her pride and her joy, and her legacy lives on in every generation that carries her stories forward. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a graveside service following on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 11:00 am. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas. Nogie?s life was celebratory and uplifting in the truest sense, filled with love, adventure, creativity, and deep family roots. Though she will be dearly missed, the light of her spirit remains, reflected in the lives she shaped and the joy she so generously shared. | Storie, Sadie Elnora (I8777)

| 1631 | Frederick J. Bassett, Source unknown Frederick J. Bassett was born at Fairmont, Neb., September 9, 1894. He died at the Veterans hospital at Lincoln, Neb., June 28, 1937, at the age of 42 year, 9 months, and 19 days. He had entered the hospital only the day before and had been off duty less than a week. Fred, the name by which he was familiarly known, spent the greater part of his life at Fairmont, where he was happily married to Miss Marie Lewis March 10, 1918. A beautiful family of six children was born to this union, Dorothy, Donna, Bonnie Mae, Dean, Donald, and Darrell. Bonnie May died in infancy. The other five remain a great comfort to their bereaved mother. In September, 1917, he enlisted at Curtis, Neb., in Company C, Eighty-ninth Regiment, 355th Infantry, to serve in the World War, and went overseas in May, 1918, returning in April 1919, the war having ended. Though his Army life was brief, it was real and he experienced hard fighting at Argonne and Chateau Thierry, being severely wounded November 4, just seven days before the Armistice was signed. He carried a bullet in his back for a number of years, which was finally removed, but from the effect of which he never fully recovered and there is no doubt that this injury was the cause of his early, untimely death. After returning home, following the war, he and his family lived at Fairmont, where he was engaged in farming, until about nine years ago, when he entered the government postal service and moved to Geneva to assume the duties of a city mail carrier, which position he held at the time of his death. Fred, as everyone, saw the seamy side of life. He lost his mother at sixteen, a sister, Alice, a little later, his father soon after he moved to Geneva, and then his Army life tested his mettle as it did thousands of others, yet be it said to his credit, that he was a loyal citizen, discharging his duties faithfully on the field of battle and in his pursuits in time of peace. He was a faithful and loving husband and father, his home and family being the center of his interests. How much he will be missed by the inner circle of loved ones and other near relatives and friends, only God and others who have had similar sorrows can know. He was a Legionnaire, an honored member of the I. O. O. F., being a past noble grand, and also a member of the Rebekah lodge. He, together with his wife and daughter Dorothy, united with the Geneva Methodist church March 31, 1929, under the pastorate of Rev. H. C. Casey. In addition to his immediate family, other relatives left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Mrs. Minnie A. Marsh, Colome, S. D., and Mrs. Bessie Myers, Ainsworth, Neb., and three brothers, Charles of St. Paul, Minn., Bert of Newberg, Ore, and George of Ainsworth, Neb. Funeral services will be conducted by his pastor, Rev. W. H. Shoaf, assisted by Rev. E. W. Day, pastor of the Geneva Congregational church, Thursday afternoon, July 1. There will be a brief service at the home at 2, and the service proper will follow at the Methodist church at 2:30. The American Legion, the O. O. O. F. and Rebekah lodges will each attend in a body. Burial will be in the Geneva cemetery. The American Legion and the Odd Fellows will have charge of the services at the grave. 1920 Federal Census of Fairmont, Fillmore County, Nebraska (22 Jan 1920) W.A. | 1636 | Funeral of Mrs. Bass Held This Morning Hundreds Of Friends Manifest Their Esteem Tragic Death of Popular Lady Proves Shock to Whole Community Much Sympathy For Husband and Children At 11 o?clock today the last sad rites were said over all that remained mortal of Mrs. Ida Madden Bass. The afternoon train took the funeral party to Nashville, where the interment will take place Monday. The funeral took place at the East Lake home and was conducted by Rev. J.A. Baylor, pastor of the Centenary church, of which the deceased had been a member for many years. The music was by the First Presbyterian choir. The casket was borne by eight members of the cavalry squadron of which the husband of the deceased is commanding officer. They were: H.F. Wenning, Jno. G. Martin, Fred Henderson, J.G. Gahagan, J.S.B. Woolford, R.C. Richard, Alex Scott, and C.W. Rankin. The pallbearers were W.C. Henderson, J.P. Skyffe, C.A. Raht, T.W. Fritts, F.M. Caldwell, M.M. Allison, T.C. Thompson, Z.C. Patten, Jr. The Colonial Dames, who in the death of Mrs. Bass, mourn one of their most beloved and esteemed members, attended the services in a body. The services were impressive in the extreme and the high place held by the deceased in the affection and esteem of all Chattanooga was testified to by the unusual floral tributes and the many sorrowing friends who bowed in grief during the services. Mr. Percy Madden, brother of the deceased, left Nashville yesterday at 3:30 but was unable to reach here until 7 a.m. today on account of the railroad wreck. The funeral party, which included many close friends, occupied a special car on the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis train which left at 1:35 for Nashville. Community Shocked The entire community yesterday afternoon was shocked at the news of the death of Mrs. Bass. No woman who has made Chattanooga her home has been more universally loved and esteem than has Mrs. Bass a daughter of Dr. J.W. Madden, a prominent and old resident of Nashville. She was brought up in an atmosphere of southern society typical of off that has been best in the nation?s history and to the host of Chattanooga friends she came to the ideal type she represented. Besides her husband Mrs. Bass leaves two children, Jack and Louise, a little girl of 6 years, who so miracously escaped injury yesterday; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Madden, J.W. Madden, Jr., Mr. Percy Madden, Mrs. Louise Madden Brown, all of Nashville and Mrs. Foust of Waco, Texas. Details of Accident The accident in which Mrs. Bass lost her life occurred about 11:30 near the plant of the D.M. Steward Manufacturing Co., on the Camp street road. Mrs. Bass was driving to Lookout Mountain to a luncheon, accompanied by Mrs. R.W. Gates and her own daughter, Louise, 6 years of age. The horse became frightened at some well drilling machinery and in shying to the side of the road, one of them became entangled in wire that was lying in the road. Of course this frightened them more. Will Bates, the negro driver, reached down to remove the wire from the animal?s foot, but in doing this was thrown from the trap. With the driver gone and the reins dragging on the ground, the horse started on a dead run, the light carriage swaying from side to side threatening to overturn each moment. By this time they were approaching a decided grade, and the frightened ladies, knowing that they would be thrown out of they remained in the carriage, decided to jump. Mrs. Gales, with little Louise in her arms, was first to make the leap. She was terribly bruised about the body and suffered a severe cut above the eye, but protected by the arms of the brave woman, Louise was oly slightly injured. It is rather uncertain as to whether Mrs. Bass really jumped from the carriage or was thrown from it; at any rate, the fall was terrible. Her head and shoulders were the first to strike the ground, the force of the contact breaking her neck. Life was almost extinct when assistance reached her. She never regained consciousness and died in a few minutes after the tragedy occurred. | Madden, Ida Belle (I161)

| 1639 | Garr Funeral Services, 12 December 2024 Robert Moorman Bassett January 29, 1940 ? December 10, 2024 Robert Moorman Bassett was born January 29, 1940 in Danville, Kentucky to Elizabeth Mary Earthman Bassett and Charles Caroll Bassett. JoAnn, his older sister (5 years old at the time) remembers praying for a girl, but wanting a new baby brother. She was praying that way because it seemed to her that she would always get the opposite of what she prayed for. The whole family welcomed the arrival of a new baby boy. Though all three children competed for their parents' attention, JoAnn took special care of Robert and would commonly use her special "back tickle" technique to settle him down and get him to fall asleep as an infant. When Robert first began his academic experience, he demonstrated exceptional intelligence at the first grade level, however it became clear later on that Robert had been strongly affected by dyslexia. Elizabeth, being the Irish fighter that she was, took this challenge head-on and began to educate herself on the latest and most effective techniques for dealing with dyslexia. She later became a facilitator, educator, tester and tutor with Dr. Charles Shedd's Program for dyslexia at Asbury University, a role that she carried into old age and was still testing and tutoring until age 89. Robert not only benefited from her efforts, but followed in his mother's wake working as an assistant to Dr. Shedd, also testing and tutoring as a young man and into his thirties. Robert was very close to his father and was his father's "tag along" from an early age through high school. Charles Bassett, his father, was gifted mechanically and later became an inventor. As a young father, he lost his job due to the Great Depression, and moved to Danville, Kentucky. Soon afterward, he started working at Belknap Hardware Company (a regional giant) and began working in the warehouse. He later worked as a draftsman, then a traveling salesman sometimes flying his Piper Cub airplane to his intended destinations. He designed company delivery systems, later he became the company's Chief Engineer, he developed and wrote patents on a host of Belknap products, and eventually retired as Belknap's Vice President. As mentioned, he was a pilot, and he was also commissioned to train young pilots by the Army Air Corps in WW2. Charles mentored his son Robert in many ways, especially in mechanical skills, wood working, boating and fishing. Speaking to the friends Robert grew up with, they would comment, "Bob is one of the smartest guys I know, he knows a little about everything. He can also take a whole car apart and put it back together in a weekend." Robert and his father also loved to fish, and in many of the family pictures, he and his father had stinger lines full of 30-40 fish they muscled up for the photo of their catch that day. When asked by Hickory Creek staff, "In your memories, what were your best days?" Robert responded, "My best days are days that I spent the whole day fishing!" For work, Robert later took a job as a manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken, Corp., and worked his way up to a Regional Manager over seven stores. He also established a pizza parlour in Memphis at one point, in addition to working as a Truck Driver coast to coast. In retirement, Robert took on the hobby of pottery. He became very skilled at it, especially when he and his longtime girl-friend Elaine moved to South Carolina. He was a member of a pottery group who were not only skilled potters, but were also excellent fund-raisers, often raising thousands of dollars for local charities by donating their works and selling them at charity events. In 2019, Robert moved to Scottsburg, IN to live with his Sister Betty for support from his family due to his advancing Parkinson's disease symptoms. As his health continued to decline, Betty (now 90 years old) was faithful to cook and care for him despite working long hours doing promotional displays at Walmart and other venues. Sometimes, Ian would pull into the driveway to check on them before his work day, and would note the dim brake lights of her car on with Betty at the wheel asleep from exhaustion after finally making it home from the long day before. Although Robert had to leave his pottery hobby behind when he moved to live with his sister, his pottery work will live on for many years as he has left behind many creative vessels of the earth. His hobby carries so many spiritual overtones as we are all spirits and souls dwelling within finite earthen vessels created for God's purpose and plan. Robert's spirit and soul is now free from the suffering and pain associated with that earthen vessel. Bob died early in the morning of December 10, 2024 in the peaceful and loving care of the staff, his family and friends at Hickory Creek in Madison, Indiana. In his love, Ian C. Bruton Funeral services will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. | Bassett, Robert Moorman (I1814)
