Born July 9, 1909, in Beech Flats, Canton RD 1, he was the son of Martin and Sarah Olinger Bassett. Mr. Bassett and his brothers and sisters were rais their stepmother, Mrs. Daisy White Bassett. Mr. Bassett was employed for 43 years as a milk tester for the Canton Creamery, from which he retired in 1974. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Irene Storrs Bassett; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Scott Shedden, Canton RD1 and Myrna and Myl Anderson, Walla Walla, WA; grandchildren, Bryan and Michelle Shedden, Mark and Tammy Shedden and Miss Meagan Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah and Lance Shedden; one brother, Wendell E. Bassett, Canton; one sister, Mrs. Alice Storrs, Canton; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Best, and a brother Niles E. Bassett. Funeral services will be held on Friday Jan 6, 1989 at 11 a.m. at the Morse and Kleese Funeral Home, Canton, with the Rev. David Morris officiating. Interment will be in the East Canton Cemetery.
