    Will of Hansford Bassett
    The State of Mississippi, Neshoba County, June 19th, 1862
    Before God and in the presents of these witnesses,
    I will and Donate the S xxx of Sec 35 T9 R10 to L.W. Bassett his mare or filly that I gave him. Also my Rifle gunn and one cow and calf. I will and donate to C.C. Bassett the S1/4 and E half of S xxx Sec 34 T9 R10, also one souell colt two years old one double banill grin to cow and calf. I will and donate to my wife Mary E. Bassett and her five children the N xxx Sec 3 to NW1/4 of Sec 2 to E half of SE1/4 Sec 2 to the SW1/4 of SW1/4 of SW1/4 of Sec 11 all lying T8 NR10 E. Also I will that a certain negro man call Fortion shall go to her and her children so long as they make a support if they fail to do so then the boy to be put out to hire to support the children this property to be kept as xxx property untill the death or marriage of my wife the property is to go to the children. Also one yoke of oxen two mules xxx to back half the hobs half of milk stock cattle to half the shppe. I will to J.H. Bassett he Exx of Nxx of Sec 11, to xxx Sec 12, all in T8 R10 East if he should live to be twenty one years of age, if not to be sold and equally divided amongst my heirs. I will that the amount of notes I hold Six hundred and fifty nine dollars 25/100 be appropriated to my debts. Also a certain negro woman Agg to be sold for the benefit of my creditors if necessary. I will and donate xxx E.B. Pace a certain negro girl call mill to two hundred dollars out of proceeds out of negro woman sold. I will and donate to H. Bassett two children, Hansford and Lorenzo Dow a negro boy Sam about six years old and one hundred dollars if their be that much out of the proceeds of negro sold. I will and donate to William H. Bassett one byg mare known by the name of Bett. If W.H. Bassett and his wife should have any more heirs they will be equally entitled to their portion of this boy Sam. I will if L.W. or C.C. Bassett should die without heirs his or their land shall be sold and divided amongst my heirs. After two cows and calves are taken and then all the remaining stock to be equally divided between the four children E.B. Pace, L.W., W.H. and C.C. Bassett. I will that Mary E. Bassett and her five children have one half of the crop that is now growing and W.H., L.W. and C.C. Bassett and E.B. Pace is to have the other half. It is my wish and desire that my wife and children will be satisfied with this my last will and Testament.

    In the Probate court of said county at the July Term A.D. 1862, thereof
    In the matter of a certain instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Hanciford Bassett deceased.
    Be it remembered that at a term of the Probate court of the County of Neshoba in the State aforesaid beun and held at the court house in and for Said county on the fourth Monday in July A.D. 1862. Personally appeared in open court Thoms J. Pace, James J. Thornton and Jas. M. Harlason subscribing witnesses to a certain instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Hanceford Bassett late of said county deceased bearing date the 19th day of June A.D. 1862, who having first been duly sworn deposed and said that said Hanciford Bassett sealed published and declared said instrument as his last will and testament in the presence of these desronents on the day of the date thereof that Said testator was then of sound disposing mind and memory and more than twenty one years of age, and that these desronents subscribed said instrument as witnessed, there at the instance and request and in the presence of said testator and also in the presence of each other on the day and year aforesaid.
