    Notes:

    He removed from Sandwich to East Yarmouth, which was incorporated in 1793
    as Dennis. He held commissions as captain in the royal militia, 1765 and 1772,
    but early in the controversy he sided with the colonies and surrendered his commission.
    General Washington offered him a captain's commission early in the Revolution but on
    account of his age and other circumstances he declined it.


    Elisha and Abigail are buried in the burying ground near the center of Dennis, with gray
    slate gravestones, reading:
