Dr. J.C. Kirkpatrick and Dr. Jenkins were hastily summoned, but Mr. Bassett died shortly after the physicians\u2019 arrival at the park. The coroner, who had been notified by the police, arrived shortly afterward and permitted the body to be removed to deceased\u2019s late residence, 2644 Portland street, by undertakers Orr &amp; Hines, and announced his intention of holding an inquest today. Dr. Kirkpatrick was of the opinion that such a course was superfluous as he was willing to sign a certificate to the effect that Mr. Bassett had succumbed to an attack of apoplexy.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Bassett was a widower about 70 years of age, and resided with his two daughters and two grand daughters in a fine residence on Portland street.
