\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Richard L. Bassett, 64, of 2620 Warrensville Center Rd., University Heights, founder of Pierre\u2019s Ice Cream Co. here, died yesterday at his home.<\/p>\n
Services will be private.<\/p>\n
Mr. Bassett began the ice cream company in 1932 and was associated with the firm until 1966. He had patents on ice cream flavors, Holiday Pudding and Rum Bisque.<\/p>\n
For the past eight years, he was a sales representative in the institutional division of Seaway Foods.<\/p>\n
Mr. Bassett came here from Troy, N.Y. He was a member of the Men\u2019s Committee of the Play House and a trustee of the Play House Club. He was a Mason and past master of Golden Squire Lodge 679.<\/p>\n
Survivors include his wife Ann, a vice president of the Cuyahoga Savings Association.<\/p>\n

\nMrs. Bassett, 80, of Shaker, Dies<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mrs. Alexander Bassett, 80, died Friday in Mount Sinai Hospital.<\/p>\n
She was the former Lilly Jacobs. Her family owned and operated Pierre\u2019s French Ice Cream Inc. for 32 years. Mrs. Bassett was active in the company, which is at 6519 Carnegie Avenue S.E.<\/p>\n
She was a member of Fairmount Temple, and its sisterhood Menorah Park Women\u2019s Association and was Red Cross volunteer.<\/p>\n
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Schaefer; a son, Richard Bassett; a sister, Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1961.<\/p>\n
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Berkowitz-Kumin memorial chapel, 1985 South Taylor Road, East Cleveland.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Bassett lived at 2540 N. Moreland Boulevard, Shaker Heights.<\/p>\n
