Bassett, 64, of South Wabash street, died of a heart attack at 11 p.m. Sunday in Tower, Minn., where he was spending his vacation.<\/p>\n<p>A native of Illinois, he was the former owner of Bassett\u2019s service station in Delphi and before that had operated a service station in Monticello.<\/p>\n<p>He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Presbyterian church,, Delphi I.O.O.F, American Legion, and the 40 and 8.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are the wife, Maureen, whom he married in 1918; and a brother, Frank, of Hazelhurst, Wisc.<\/p>\n<p>The body is being returned to the Elkenberry funeral home.
