\nBetty Bassett\u2019s Engagement To G.G. Blatz Jr. Is Told<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Announcement is made of the engagement of Miss Betty Bassett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Patterson Bassett of Sturgeon, Bay, and Gustave G. Blatz Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave G. Blatz, N. Summit av. The news was told at a family dinner at the home of Miss Bassett\u2019s brother and sister-in-law, Mrs. and Mrs. Robert C. Bassett of Sunlight Park, Green Bay, Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. Blatz Sr. also entertained at dinner at the Wisconsin club this week in honor of the young couple.<\/p>\n
Miss Bassett attended the University of Wisconsin where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Mr. Blatz, also an alumnus of the university, belonged to Delta Upsilon fraternity. He is a member of the Wisconsin club, and a leader in the club\u2019s Bachelors\u2019 circle \u2013 group in which he will forfeit membership after his marriage.<\/p>\n

\nBetty Bassett Weds Gustave G. Blatz Jr.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hosts of Milwaukeeans were in Sturgeon Bay Saturday for the wedding of Miss Betty Bassett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Patterson Bassett of that city, and Gustave G. Blatz Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave G. Blatz, N. Summit av.<\/p>\n
The ceremony uniting the two young people took place at 4 p.m. in the spacious living room of the Bassett home, where an alter draped with ivory satin and lace threaded in gold, and lighted by tapers in Gothic sconces, had been set up against a silver cloth curtain flanked by strings of smilax. A group of silver tubes on the alter held tall Easter lilies.<\/p>\n
Given in marriage by her father in the service read by the Rev. Anthony Koeferl of St. Joseph\u2019s church, the bride wore a gown of heavy ivory duchesse satin, adapted from Chanel. The long, tight sleeves were slightly puffed at the shoulders; the curved neckline was edged with a stiff pleated frill, and the full skirt lengthened to form a court train.<\/p>\n
Mary Bassett Her Sister\u2019s Attendant<\/p>\n
A coronet of orange blossoms held her finer tip length veil, and she carried calla lilies, tied with wide white satin ribbons.<\/p>\n
Miss Mary Bassett, who was her sister\u2019s only attendant, wore in her role of maid of honor and azalea Pink frock of mousseline de sole embossed with a bowknot design. She carried a colonial bouquet of double begonias and pink forget-me-knots edged with white tulle. William A. Wager of Los Angeles was best man, and the users were Robert C. Bassett of Green Bay, the bride\u2019s brother, and Robert Blatz, brother of the bridegroom, who is home from the Warton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania for the summer.<\/p>\n
Following the ceremony there was a dinner for around 100 guests, and a larger reception later, at Maxwelton Braes at Bailey\u2019s Harbor. The bridal table, laid with a white satin cloth banded with silver ribbons and strings of smilax and Mexican ivy, held long, slender mirrors reflecting calla lilies, white pansies and lilies of the valley in small lustre vases.<\/p>\n
Couple to Make Home in Milwaukee<\/p>\n
Mrs. Bassett, who stood near the bridal party to greet the guests at the reception, wore a Persian blue lace and marquisette gown, with a shoulder bouquet of white orchids. Mrs. Blatz had chosen for her son\u2019s wedding a robe de style of white baby Irish lace and a large white straw picture hat banded with French blue velvet. Blue cornflowers made her bouquet.<\/p>\n
Following their wedding trip, Mr. Blatz and his bride will live at 1638 E. Newton av., Milwaukee. Both are graduates of the University of Wisconsin, where the bride was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and the bridegroom affiliated with Delta Upsilon fraternity.<\/p>\n
