His research papers can be found at the NEHGS library in Boston.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Bangor, Maine Daily News, 29 May 1961, p.16<\/p>\n<p>Searsport &#8211; Eben Pierce Bassett, 84, died Saturday evening at a Belfast hospital following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>He was born at Providence, R.I., August 18, 1876, son of Alpheus and Elizabeth (Lane) Bassett.<\/p>\n<p>He was a graduate of the University of Maine in 1899 as an electrical engineer. He was a second lieutenant in Coburn Ports Corps, ROTC. He worked for General Electric Company at New York until 1929, when he retired. Following his retirement he lived at Bayside for many years. He moved to Searsport seven years ago.<\/p>\n<p>He died research for the Penobscot Marine Museum on ships and sea captains. He was a member of the New England Genealogical Society and the American Genealogical Society. He compiled the Bassett genealogy.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth P. Bassett, of Searsport; a cousin, Albert Pierce of Bangor.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral services will be at the First Congregational Church of Searsport Tuesday at 1 p.m. Robert Sargent will officiate.<\/p>\n<p>Interment will be in Mt.
