Mr. Bassett, a native of Madison, died Oct. 18 in a Sacramento, Calif. hospital. Survivors include his wife, the former Arlyne Nehmer; a son, Jerry L.; and a\u00a0 daughter, Lynn D\u2019Arcy. Mr. Bassett originated the \u201cThis is Your Town\u201d series on WKOW in the late \u201840s and was featured on WISC radio from 1953 to 1959. For many years, he handled the personal appearances of Hollywood stars for the Orpheum Theatre circuit. Mr. Bassett was a charter member of Madison\u2019s Sertoma Club. No memorial services are planned. Donations may be made to the Mercy Hospice, care of Mercy General Hospital, 4001 J.
