\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Saturday a deal was closed between Bassett Brothers of the East End Grocery and Hardware whereby G.M. Lewis and his brother Rex Lewis, the latter a former Albany resident, take over the stock of the Bassett firm and will move it to the G.M. Lewis Block where drugs, groceries and shelf hardware will be kept from now on.<\/p>\n
The Lewis Brothers have rented the Bassett store building and will use it as headquarters for their farm implement business as well as for storage of surplus stocks.<\/p>\n
G.M. Lewis came to Whitesville four years ago and bought the drug and grocery business of the Former estate which was located in the old M.S. & A. L. Chase double store. Later Mr. Lewis bought the block of the Lydia Crandall estate He has enjoyed a fine business which is constantly expanding owing to this agreeable manner of dealing and consistent advertising of his goods.<\/p>\n
Rex Lewis has for some seven years been located in Albany where he has held a very lucrative position.<\/p>\n
It is with regret that we chronicle the loss of the firm of Bassett Bros. but Guy was unable to resists the splendid opportunity offered him by the concern of Weed & Co., in Rochester, this fall, and Harry\u2019s position as Financial Clerk of the State Senate at Albany made it impossible for him to properly care for the business alone, so the concern has been dissolved.<\/p>\n
The people and business interests NEWS in in welcoming the incoming partner of the Lewis firm and we wish and bespeak for them ample success in the new venture.<\/p>\n
