From the evidence it appeared that the whole of the defendants, who comprise a father and his sons and grandson, had a sort of free fight. Violent threats were used, and customers in the market were in a state of great alarm. The Bench was satisfied the case was proved, and the Mayor (Mr. H. Rogers), in announcing the decision, said it was a painful matter to see a father and four sons before them. The peace must be preserved, and the comfort and prosperity of the town much depended on the manner in which business was conducted, and ladies and gentlemen who went to the Market-house must not be annoyed.
