Opal Pearl (Mincy) Bassett (Includes picture)
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Opal Pearl (Mincy) Bassett, 82, formerly of Cambridge, N.Y., passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, July 7, 2006, at Starr Farm Nursing Center, Burlington, Vt.
She was born in Loris, S.C., on Oct.9, 1923, the daughter of Lucian B. and Ella (Harrelson) Mincy.
Opal was the widow of George F. Bassett Sr., who predeceased her in 1986. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Cambridge for several years.
Mrs. Bassett leaves her children, Wilma and Jim Horton of Colchester, Vt., and George Jr. and Mary Ann Bassett of Concord, N.C.; her grandchildren; Jim Jr. and Pam Horton and their children, Joe Munt and Jimmy Horton III, all of Virginia, Laurie and Kevin Ose and their children, Ryan and Aubrie Ose, all of Colchester, Patrick and Tania Horton and their children, Keagan and Erin Horton, all of Colchester, Amy and Mike McIntoch and their daughter, Jessica, all of North Carolina, and Shannon an Lonnie Bulger and their children, Abby and Alex Bulger, all of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews in South Carolina.
A graveside service will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Cambridge, N.Y. at the family's convenience.
Our family wishes to thank Starr Farm for the loving care given to our mother. Mom was a walker and racked up many miles at Starr Farm, meeting many residents and staff. She never knew a stranger and loved all those that she met. "Hi Honey!"
