Mrs. Nellie V. Bassett
Gobles - Mrs. Nellie V. Bassett, 85, of Gobles, died Thursday morning in the Bethany nursing home in Bloomingdale.
Mrs. Bassett was born December 7, 1881 in Arlington, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jewett. She was married on June 29, 1900 in Arlington to Alva C. Bassett. He preceded her in death in 1943.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. June Lohrberg of Gobles; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Roberts of Janesville, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Three sons, Donald R., Kenneth M., and Alva Dale also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Gobles Chapel of Robbins funeral home with the Rev. Leroy Hoover, pastor of the Bloomingdale Christian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

Donald R. Bassett
Bloomingdale - Donald R. Bassett, 58, died suddenly at his home Saturday morning.
He was born Dec. 14, 1902, in Arlington, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Bassett. He had lived in the rural Bloomingdale area for about 50 years.
Mr. Bassett was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his widow, Amy, and his mother, Mrs. Nellie Bassett, both of Bloomingdale; one brother Alva Dale Bassett of Kalamazoo; and one sister, Mrs. Bruce (June) Lohrberg.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Robbins funeral home in Bloomingdale. The Rev. Fr. Robert McDougall of Albion St. James Episcopal church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery in Bloomingdale.
