Frieda E. Bassett
Frieda E. Bassett, 81, of East Main Street died Thursday at her home. A native
of Prairie, N.D., Mrs. Bassett resided most of her life in Smyrna. She was a
member of the auxiliary of Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton, and a former
member of the auxiliary of the Smyrna Fire Department. She was a former Girl
Scout and 4-H leader in Smyrna. Surviving are four sons, Robert and David,
both of Smyrna, Clarence of Clifton Park and Richard of Agawam, Mass.; two
daughters, Nancy Bassett of Smyrna and Linda Manchester of Sherburne; t
sisters, Christine Picha of Glencoe, Minn., and Anna Weller of Suring, Wis.;
16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter; and
several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Burgess
Funeral Home, Earlville, the Rev. Paul Walker officiating. Burial will be in
Wilcox Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the
funeral home, 3 Preston St. Contributions may be made to Smyrna Emergen
Squad.
