- Helen Kutulas Bassett
In Loving Memory
Salt Lake Tribune, February 6, 2015
Helen, 85 years old, passed away on February 3rd at Hillside Rehabilitation of Alzheimer's. She was born in Salt Lake City to Ernest and Ange Kutulas.
Helen had a strong work ethic and she learned this from our parents who were immigrants. She was a single mother who raised her son with the help of her parents. She worked for the IRS for 37 years and also worked part-time jobs at night.
Helen was very active attending plays, traveling, gardening and playing bridge. She helped put her son through school earning his master's degree and she was proud of that. She adored her granddaughter, Zasha, and was very involved in her life. Helen was very close to her sisters and talked to them daily. She was very kind to her nieces and nephews on the Kutulas and Bassett side and they adored her.
Survived by her granddaughter, Zasha (Shane) Mickey and two great-grandchildren, Talia & Cole of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by her sisters and her brother, Christina Parkin, John Kutulas (Katherine), Dena Leone and Barbara Keller (Skip). Helen was preceded in death by her son, John, a daughter who died shortly after birth, and her parents.
We would like to thank the staff of Hillside Rehabilitation for their compassionate care.
Helen was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. We would like to thank the Philoptochos Society for always visiting Helen.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Salt Lake.
