      E. George Krug

      E. George Krug of Washington, NJ died on December 16, 2009, 5 days before his 85th birthday, at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem, PA.

      Born: Mr. Krug was born on December 21, 1924 in Plainfield NJ, to the former Elma Zahn and Anton Krug.

      Personal: He spent his childhood in Dunellen, graduating from high school there with a classmate who was to become his wife of 59 years, the late Edythe Schempp Krug.

      After George returned from serving in the Army in the European theater during World War II, the Krugs were married in 1949. They settled in Green Brook, where they were very active in the civic, church and political life of the community for many years.

      Mr. Krug was a trustee of the Dunellen Methodist Church, an officer of VFW Post 5479 in Dunellen, a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and Knights Templar, and was active in the Jerusalem Lodge of the Masonic Order in Plainfield.

      Mr. Krug was a police officer with the Port Authority of NY/NJ for 25 years, retiring in 1972. After retirement he worked for several central NJ fuel oil companies.

      The Krugs moved to Washington in 1980 to be closer to two of their grandchildren.

      The Krugs spent many summers at a family house on Long Beach Island, and were members and officers of the Beach Haven Park Yacht Club, and the Beach Haven Park Homeowners Association.

      Mr., Krug enjoyed the beach, sailing, railroading and his charitable and fraternal activities. He will be remembered by his family and his many friends and acquaintances as a devoted father and a generous friend to all.

      Memberships: Mr. Krug became a member of Mansfield Lodge of the Masonic Order, and was past Master and past Grand Chaplain as well Worthy Patron to the Eastern Star. He was a member of St Peter's Episcopal Church where he was a vestry member.

      He will also be remembered by a generation of middle and high school students in Washington as a school bus driver for the Warren Hills school district.

      Survivors: Mr. Krug is survived by his children, Jane Bradley of Green Brook, Ed Krug of New York City, and by Mindy McAllister of Easton, PA, stepmother to two of Mr. Krug's grandchildren.

      Another daughter, Candace Caswell, predeceased him.

      Mr. Krug had three grandchildren who survive him: Leslie Skorets of Belvedere, Colin Bradley of Green Brook, and Amanda Read of Washington. Matthew Caswell, another grandchild predeceased him. Mr. Krug also had a great-grandchild, Duncan Caswell of Easton.

      Services: Visitation will be held on Sunday December 20, 2009 from 2 to 5 p.m. Masonic Rites and a service celebrating Georges life will follow at 5 p.m. at the Warren Hills Memorial Home; 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882 with Fr. Robert Criste-Troutman officiating. The celebration will continue with a reception at 6 p.m. at the Mansfield Masonic Lodge, 275 Route 31 South, Washington NJ. Burial will be private.
