      Mary Ann Bassett, 88 of Hernando, fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Mary Ann was born on February 1, 1930 in Toledo, OH to the late Irving and Gladys (Larrow) Heipel.
      Mary Ann was a Postmaster for the US Postal Service in Manton, MI and loved to collect antique bottles. She moved to Citrus County in 1985 from Cadillac, MI. She was a volunteer at Citrus Memorial Hospital and a member of the Arbor Lakes Chorus.
      She was a founding member of the St. Raphael of Brooklyn Orthodox Church in Inverness, where she also was a member of the choir.
      She attended every service when she was able and was willing to help the church, and especially Fr. Sergious, in any way that she could. She was granted a Gramata from the central church for her dedication.
      Left to cherish her memory are her children: Betsy Thompson of Coleman, MI; Tim Caldwell of Breckenridge, MI; Jerry Caldwell of Midland, MI; Tom Caldwell of Louisville, KY; her sister, Carol Allen of Lansing, MI; devoted best friend, "adopted" daughter, and caregiver Georgeanne Vukmir of Hernando. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard in 2006; her brother, Irving Heipel and sisters, Vella Mae Jockett and Barbara Heipel.
      Viewing will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at St. Raphael of Brooklyn Orthodox Church, 1277 N. Paul Dr., Inverness, FL with Funeral Divine Liturgy at
      11 AM with Fr. Sergious Gerken, celebrant. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
      In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church for funeral expenses. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness.

      HERNANDO, Fla. ? Mary Ann Heipel Caldwell Bassett of Hernando, Florida, passed away January 21, 2019.
      She was born February 1, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio, to Gladys and Irving Heipel. She was raised in Toledo and later moved to Michigan along with her brother and sisters. She graduated from Central Catholic High School.
      She married Max Caldwell and they raised their family in Manton, Michigan. Max passed away in 1969. Mary Ann retired from the United States Postal Service as Postmaster. Prior to her retirement, she married Guy Besey from Cadillac, Michigan. They spent several happy years together, traveling until his unfortunate death in 1985. She later moved to Florida and married Gerard Bassett, who preceded her in death.
      Mom loved the outdoors. She always took long walks in the woods enjoying wildlife. She was an avid fisherman, deer hunter and she had a passion for stamp collecting and antique bottles. She was dedicated to her faith and God. She showed this every day of her life with her kindness and love. She influenced her family greatly with all these wonderful attributes.
      She was preceded in death by her brother, Irving; her sisters, Barbara and Vella Mae Jocket.
      She is survived by her loving friends and family, her sister, Carol Allen (Lavern); her children, Tom Caldwell (Linda), Betsy Ann Thompson, Jerry Caldwell (Jeanine) and Tim Caldwell (Annie); her five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
      A liturgy service will be held Tuesday, January 29, at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. at St. Raphael's Orthodox Church, 1277 N Paul Drive, Inverness, FL, with burial at Florida National Cemetery.
      In lieu of flowers, please send any monetary donations to your local wildlife preserve in her honor.
      We have missed you terribly these past several years. You have always been loved and will never be forgotten. We will forever hear your voice and laughter. Until we meet again.
