Mrs. Emma E. Bassett Dead
Mrs. Emma E. Bassett, 61, wife of Frank S. Bassett, died at her home, 37 Gorton street, Pontoosuc lake, late last night of a paralysis shock which she suffered early yesterday. She was born in Nassau, New York and had lived in this city 30 years. Mrs. Bassett was a charter member of Hiawatha council, Daughters of Pocahontas, Red Men's auxiliary and was its first collector of wampum. She was a member of the First Methodist church. Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Burt M. Hornbeck, and one son, Arthur Bassett, and three grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 at the house, with Reverend A.A. Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Pittsfield cemetery.
