Mr. Fred Washington Bassett

Mr. Fred Washington Bassett, 86, of Roanoke, Ala. died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998 at Randolph County Hospital after a short illness. A lifelong Randolph County, Ala. resident, Mr. Bassett was born May 23, 1912, son of Edgar W. and Cora Yates Bassett. He was self-employed carpenter and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. His wife, Gladys Lourene Wilder Bassett, preceded him in death.
A funeral was Sunday, Oct. 18, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Craft officiating. Burial was at the adjoining cemetery.
Surviving are sons, Truman Bassett of Newnan, Ga., and Fred Alton "Pete" Bassett of Rocky Mt. Va.; sister, Nelda Holmes of Simpsonville, S.C.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Truman Bassett

Truman Bassett, born August 18, 1935, in Randolph County, AL, passed away March 11, 2022, in Newnan, GA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred W. and Gladys Bassett. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Kirby Bassett of over 60 years; daughter, Karen Bassett; son, Rick Bassett; daughter-in-law, Michelle (Mickie) Bassett; granddaughter, Kaycee Landrum; grandson-in-law, Austin Landrum and great-granddaughter, Kamzie Mae Landrum. He is also survived by his brother, Fred A. (Pete) Bassett along with many other relatives.

Truman honorably served his country in the Army from 1957 to 1960. He worked for many years in the building materials field before retiring. Truman loved his family deeply. The family is at peace knowing he is now with Our Lord and Savior.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. EST at McKoon Funeral Home 38 Jackson Street Newnan, GA 30263. The graveside service will be Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 4 p.m. CT at Randolph Memory Gardens in Roanoke, AL.

Arthur David Bassett

(ROANOKE) - Services for Arthur David Bassett, 60, of Roanoke, were Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee, with the Rev. Don Quick officiating. Burial followed in Rock Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Bassett died Saturday, Dec. 21, at Randolph Medical Center.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Bassett was born April 18, 1942, son of Durward David and Carrie Dell Waldrop Bassett. He was a radio dispatcher with the Randolph County Sheriff's Department, a retired Army veteran and a member of Rock Springs Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Keiko Bassett of Roanoke; two sons, Johnny Bassett of Roanoke and Erwin Bassett of Iceland; one sister Rebecca Walls of Franklin, Ga.; and three nieces.
Pallbearers were Gene Hawes, Billy Herren, Jeff Fuller, Larry Clark Jr., John Mote and Whit Bonner.
Arrangements were by Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee.

Harless ?Hop? Bassett

VALLEY - Mr. Harless "Hop" Bassett, 69, of Valley died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 1 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett.

Mr. Bassett is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sherryl Bassett; his son, Billy Bassett of Beulah; six grandchildren, Brittany Bassett, Kady Bassett, Joshua Bassett, Chelsea Joy Bassett, Cheyenne Bassett and Montana Duffey; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Danyale, Aubri and Amber; and his brother, Rodjer (Mary) Bassett.

Born in Langdale Nov. 25, 1942, Mr. Bassett was the son of the late Harless and Sara Bassett. He enjoyed cooking out and watching Alabama football with his grandchildren. Mr. Bassett was a U. S. Air Force veteran and for 34 years drove a truck for WestPoint Pepperell. He was a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church. Mr. Bassett was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Bassett Duffey.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

Debra Bassett Duffey

VALLEY - Ms. Debra Bassett Duffey, 42, of Valley died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, Ga.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Aaron McCullough officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett.

Ms. Duffey is survived by her children, Cheyenne Bassett and Montana Duffey, both of Valley; her brother, Billy Bassett of Beulah; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harless Bassett of Valley; her nieces, Brittany Bassett, Kady Bassett and Chelsea Bassett; and her nephew, Joshua Bassett.

Ms. Duffey was born May 3, 1969 in Valley. She was a 1987 graduate of Valley High School and a former employee of Knauf. She loved Alabama football.

Ms. Duffey was a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church.

The family received friends Sunday, Jan. 1 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
