Cumberland ? Edith E. Bessette
EDITH E. BESSETTE, 91, Westbrook Way, a textile worker in various textile mills, died yesterday at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Leo A. Bessette Sr.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of late Gustav Lars Larson and the late Mary Elizabeth (Anderson) Lawson, she had lived in Cumberland for the past six months, previously living in Pawtucket. She had wintered in Sarasota, Fla., for many years.
Joined by her husband, she ran E & L Trucking for many years. Mrs. Bessette was a communicant of the Church of the Sacred Heart and a member of the Emblem Club
She leaves a daughter, with whom she made a home, Evelyn M. Kaveny of Cumberland; two sons, Leo A. Bessette Jr. of Pawtucket, Robert D. Bessette Sr. of Seekonk; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Raymond Bowers, William Bowers, Dorothy Hogan, Mildred Hastley, Lillian Pierce, and Edwin G. Lawson.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Park Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
