Ernest Oco Bassett
MONROE, GA. -- Mr. Ernest Oco Bassett, 88, of Monroe died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at Walton County Nursing Home in Monroe.
Funeral services were planned for Sunday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Les Powell officiating. Burial followed at Fairfax Cemetery.
Mr. Bassett is survived by his son, Wayne (Jennifer) Bassett of Monroe; his daughter, Barbara (Frank) Black of North Augusta, S.C.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Born June 25, 1919 in Childersburg, Ala., Mr. Bassett was the son of the late Annie Jones Bassett and Monroe Bassett. He was a retired employee of WestPoint Home's Langdale Mill. Mr. Bassett was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He loved fishing and gardening. Mr. Bassett was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Loganville, Ga. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jaunita Goodwin Bassett.
The family received friends Saturday, Dec. 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
