Funeral service for Perry Bassett, 99, of Chickasha, formerly of Tuttle, was held Saturday, 5/16/1992, in the Sowers Memorial chapel in Tuttle. Rev. J.W. Burrows officiated. Perry Bassett was born 7/3/1892 in Benloman, ARK, the son of Thomas Edward & Fannie (Falls) Bassett, and died Tuesday, 5/12/1992 in Chickasha, OK. Mr. Bassett came to Chickasha, Indian Territory in the early 1900's. He lived in Grady County for more than 90 years. He and Hazel Mae Burrows were married in 1915 in Ninnekah, OK. She preceded him in death in 1976. Mr. Bassett was a farmer and rancher in Grady county, near Tuttle. He was also preceded in death by 1 son, Larry Dale Bassett, 12 brothers and sister, & 3 grandsons. Survivors include 2 sons, Carl Bassett of Wichita Falls, TX & Earl Bassett of Tuttle, 4 daughters, Justena Brown of Chino, CA, Doris Hamrah of Dallas, Emma Jean Gibbs of Yuma, AZ, & Ins Sue Hurd of Yuma, AZ, 2 sisters, Marie Mitchell of Dallas & Claudia Timmer of Sun City, CA, 3 brothers, Lon Bassett of Vinita, Roy Bassett of Minco, & Fred Bassett of Norman, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, & 4 great great grandchildren. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of Sevier funeral home.
