From the "Wheeling Centennial" page 8, it states that the Post Office was located on Grant Street and that "it was built about at same time Tharp and Littrell store [1903] and was moved here by Wid Edmonson in 1903 followed by Hugh White 1911, Horace Bassett, 1922 and Charley Hawker in 1923." On page 11 the Centennial confirms that he was the Postmaster for 1922, and that he participated, with his brother "Linn", in a "Street Fair and Carnival 1904" and is noted in a photograph as "boy with cigarette, Hod Bassett". On page 38, "Rank, name and year of birth of boys in World War I, Horace P. Bassett."
