Miss Judith O’Donnell Bride Of Capt. Robert A. Bassett
Miss Judith O’Donnell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George J. O’Brien of 12 West Holly St., became the bride of Capt. Robert Alexander Bassett, USA, of Arlington, Va., son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander R. Bassett of Whippany, Saturday afternoon at St. Michael’s Church.
Rev. William S. O’Brien, chaplain of the Newman Clubs of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, and Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, officiated at the double ring ceremony. A reception was held at the Suburban Hotel, Summit.
Mr. O’Brien escorted the bride to the altar. Miss Mary Anne Dittmann of Roselle was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Janet O’Donnell, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Edward O’Connor of Bayonne, cousin of the bride.
Edmund C. Weiss of Alexandria, Va., served as best man. Ushers were Edward O’Donnell, brother of the bride; Gerald Ranges of Montvale, and George Franklin and Henry von der Linden, both of Philadelphia, Pa.
The bride, daughter also of the late Edward W. O’Connell, is a graduate of Holy Trinity High School, Westfield, and Newark State College, Union, where she was awarded a B.A. degree in English. She is a member of Nu Theta Chi Sorority and prior to her marriage was a speech and English teacher at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School, Iselin.
Capt. Bassett is a graduate of Morristown Preparatory School, Morristown. He received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Lafayette College, Easton, Pa., and an M.B.A. degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Business, New York City. He is with the Army’s Adjutant General Corps, stationed in Roslyn, Va.
Capt. Bassett and his bride will reside in Arlington following a wedding trip to St. John St. Croix, Antigua and Puerto Rico.

Robert Bassett, 62, 40 Years At IBM
Robert A. Bassett of South Salem, a past elder of Hope Church in Wilton, Conn., died Monday evening, Jan. 31, at Danbury, Conn., Hospital. Mr. Bassett, 62, was the husband of Judith O'Donnell Bassett.
Mr. Bassett, born in Montclair, N.J., on Nov. 23, 1942, was a son of Rachel Roll Bassett of Palm Bay, Fla., and the late Alexander Bassett, who died Saturday.
He attended New Jersey schools where he graduated from Morristown Preparatory School. Mr. Bassett received his degree in electrical engineering from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., and received his master's from Columbia University.
Mr. Bassett was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam era, stationed at the Pentagon.
In 1965, Mr. Bassett joined IBM, where he worked in marketing. He retired this year after 40 years with the company.
Mr. Bassett enjoyed sailing, golfing and spending time with family.
He was a member of Hope Church of neighboring Wilton where he was a board member, served on the Missions committee and was a past elder.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Bassett is survived by two sons: Robert S. Bassett and his wife, Christine, and their three children, Braden, Carter and Luke, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Brian A. Bassett of Natick, Mass.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 o'clock Saturday morning at Hope Church, 240 Wolfpit Road, Wilton, Conn.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Bassett's memory may be made to the Danbury Hospital Development Fund for Oncology Nursing, 24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury, CT 06810.
