Jerry Bassett
Jerry Bassett, 67, of 204 Thomas Drive, Summerville, and employee with AVC Construction Co., died Sunday in a North Charleston hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Cemetery in Walterboro.
Mr. Bassett was born in Colleton County, a son of James R. Bassett and Viola Kinsey Bassett. He was a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie Garris Bassett, three stepsons, Donal Dewitt of Summerville, and Harold B. Dewitt and Lige Dewitt, both of Tampa, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Mae Perkins of Tampa and Mary K. Sagonick of Bartow, Fla.; a brother, J.R. Bassett of Boston; a sister, Irene Dudley of Charleston; 123 step-grandchildren, and five ste-great-grandchildren.

SUMMERVILLE ? Services for Jerry Bassett, 67, of 204 Thomas Drive will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home of Walterboro, with burial in Glendale Memorial Cemetery of Walterboro. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Bassett died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1993. Born in Colleton Couty, he was a son of the late James and Viola Kinsey Bassett. He was an employee of AVC Construction Co.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie Garris Bassett; stepsons, Donald Dewitt of Summerville and Harold and Lige Dewitt, both of Tampa, Fla; stepdaughters, Mae Perkins of Tamps and Mary Sagonick of Bartown, Fla; a brother, J.R. Bassett of Boston; a sister, Irene Dudley of Charleston; 12 step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

WALTERBORO ? Mrs. Donnie Hiers Warren Bassett, 52, wife of Jerry Bassett, died Sunday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Herndon Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bassett was born in Colleton County, a daughter of the late Perry Hiers and Della Zeigler Hiers.
Surviving in addition to her husband of Ruffing are: two sons, Ernest Warren and David Warran, both of Walterboro; five daughters, Mrs. Barbara Prescott of Hampton, Mrs. Sheba Lowery of Walterboro, Mrs. Mae Brant of Ulmers, Mrs. Thelma Whitt of Clinton, Wisc. and Miss Daisy Warren of Walterboro; three brothers, Egars Hiers of Ruffin, Kenneth Hiers of North Charleston and Capers Hiers of Hampton; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
