Mrs. Glenda Headrick Bassett
A funeral service for Mrs. Glenda Headrick Bassett, 79, of Oxford, will be on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. Rev. Rick Pollard and Rev. Scott Smith will be officiating. The family will receive friends on the same day from noon until service time. A burial will follow the service at Forestlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Bassett passed away on December 21, 2018. She is survived by her children, Ralph 'Jack' J. Basset Jr. (Bonnie), Larry Lynn Bassett, Becky Bassett Daugherty (Tim); five grandchildren, Sarah Meagan Bassett, Emily Nicole Bassett, Madeleine Leigh Daugherty Keegan (Nathaniel), Katherine Elise Daugherty, Jacob Bassett Daugherty; siblings, Mary Norton, Eloise Kerr (Alan), Doris Farmer, Ruth Bowman (Joe Vann), John Headrick, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Ralph Bassett; sister, Frances Pollard; parents, John and Dollie Headrick; three beloved brothers in law, Bill Pollard, Ronald Farmer and Joe Norton. Pallbearers will be David Farmer, David Farmer Jr., Doug Brewster, Trevor Brewster, Pete Farmer, and Max Farmer with Darryl Hudson serving as an honorary pallbearer. Mrs. Bassett graduated from Spring Garden High School in 1957. She then went on to graduate from Alabama School of Nursing. She retired from Stringfellow Memorial Hospital in 2001 after 36 years of service. Mrs. Bassett was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Oxford where was an assistant to the church florist. Mrs. Bassett volunteered at the South Calhoun County Service Center. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
