Evelyn Louise Bassett, 1930-2008
Evelyn Louise Bassett, age 77, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2008. Evelyn was born in Rome, GA, but spent her early life in Langdale, AL where she later met and married her late husband, Earl H. Bassett. They relocated to Milton in 1962 for Earl to go to work at American Cyanamid, and Evelyn stayed home to raise their family. She later worked for West Brothers, Milton High School Cafeteria and Vanity Fair Mills, where she retired as supervisor, with over 20 years of service. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the Martha Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Milton. Mrs. Bassett is survived by her sons, Chuck (Beverly) Bassett, of Milton and Randy (Debbie) Bassett, of Milton. Funeral services for Mrs. Bassett will be 3:00PM, Sunday, April 27, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Milton with Dr. David Spencer officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00PM, prior to service. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home, directing. Pallbearers will be Scott Jordan, Steve Brown, Brian Jordan, Bubba Drinkard, Greg Gillis, and Clayton Tolbert. Honorary pallbearers will be Martha Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Milton. Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Milton, 6797 Caroline Street, Milton, FL 32570.
