- Gladys Parmer Bassett
(ROANOKE) - Services for Gladys Parmer Bassett, 78, of Roanoke were Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson and the Rev. Wayne Cowhick officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Bassett died Sunday, May 6, at Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke.
Mrs. Bassett was born in Randolph County on Aug. 23, 1922, daughter of Monroe Parmer and Sallie Gore Parmer. She was retired from Palm Beach Manufacturing and was a member of Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Byrd Bassett.
Mrs. Bassett is survived by three daughters, Wylodene Clark of Roanoke, Juanita Ussery of McDonough, Ga., and Margaret Myers of Pikeville, Tenn.; two sons, Billy Bassett of Wedowee and Kim Bassett of Ashland; one sister, Mary Lee Noles of Smyrna, Ga.; one brother, Y.C. Parmer of Roanoke; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Keith Parmer, Jerry Noles, Billy Wood, Wendell Parmer, C.W. Perry and Barry Johnson.
Arrangements were by Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee.
